Oh, how Pinteresting!

I’ve been #winning with my pins lately. Don’t believe me?

{warning, these may be offensive to some…I just find them ridiculously hilarious}

Virtual Coffee

Happy November! Can you believe October is already over, and Thanksgiving is our next holiday?! I feel like I need to start Christmas shopping already.

If we were actually having coffee today, I would be meeting you at Starbucks. I’m impatiently waiting for their Christmas cups {and their peppermint mochas} to make an appearance. Hopefully I will be drinking out of their pretty red cups soon, which means that I will probably be there every morning this week.

If we were actually having coffee today I would tell you that Robert and I have officially implemented grilled cheese day in our home. We had friends over on Friday and I finally decided to make some gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for dinner. We had four different types of sandwiches:

Gruyere with caramelized onion spread and prosciutto on rye

Brie with apple on cinnamon bread

Swiss with avocado and bacon on sourdough

Three types of cheddar on white

We both agreed that the first was delicious, and we had it again last night for dinner! Trader Joe’s roasted red pepper and tomato soup is the perfect accompaniment, and I am happy to say that we will now enjoy the pair every Monday.

If we were actually having coffee today I would tell you how happy I was that we actually got trick or treaters last night! We live in an apartment complex with a gate code, so we didn’t get any last year, but a few of kids did come knock on our door this year. I gave them all of our candy on accident because I was so excited that they were there.

If we were really having coffee together today, I would tell you how happy I am that Glee is finally back on tonight. It’s been too long.

I know that we aren’t really having coffee today, but if you ever do want to get coffee, just let me know. Maybe if you live in the area {LA or Ventura county}, we could really make it happen.

And I’m planning a Christmas wish list link up the first week of December. Be excited, and get your lists ready!

On Love

Robert and I have only been married for a little over a year, but we’ve been together for almost eight years. I’m by no means an expert on love, but I like to think I’ve picked up a few things along the way.

Here are a few things I have to say about love…

You’re partners. Trust each other. Support each other. And don’t keep score.

Put your cell phone down when you’re together,

but keep it next to you when you’re apart.

Wear lingerie.

Don’t go to bed angry.

Surprise each other.

Love something together.

Dance everyday.

And always kiss each other goodnight.

Halloween, 2010

I don’t know that I’ve told our love story here. If I have, it’s been a while. Would you all like to hear it sometime?

My Weekend in Pictures

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend my dears. I had two wonderful days with my husband and brother and lots of friends! And I’m linking up today with Ashley from A Little Dash of Ash for her Instagram link party to show you my weekend in photos.

It was my alma mater’s Homecoming game on Saturday, and they got to play in their brand new football stadium. We won! Afterward, we indulged in some food truck fare and beer in the beer garden.

Oh, and that’s Olive dressed up as a dragon up there. She’s pretty darn cute, huh?

I think so too.

Friday’s Fancies

Happy Friday friends! I hope you all have some big plans for Halloween weekend. My weekend is packed pretty full: friends over tonight, Homecoming game tomorrow, the brother coming up to visit, going out tomorrow night for drinks, and going to the pumpkin patch on Sunday! It’s going to be a busy two days, but I’m excited. And definitely ready for it to be four o’clock.

Since Monday is Halloween, a lot of people will be dressing up on Saturday night to celebrate. We actually aren’t dressing up this year, mainly because we don’t have any plans and we don’t really want to spend the money on costumes.

One of my favorite costumes to dress up in, though, are Disney princesses! Two years ago I was Belle, and throughout my life I’ve been a few different princesses {Esmerelda and Jasmine come to mind}. So I thought it might be fun to base this week’s Friday’s Fancies on another Disney princess.

It isn’t hard to guess who my inspiration for this week is!

What are you all dressing up as this weekend? And have you ever dressed up as a Disney princess?

It’s a Special Day!

My love is turning twenty-three today! Which means that for a little less than three months, we’ll only be a year apart {not that that matters or anything…}.

And, because it’s his birthday, I’m going to share a little secret with you. Well, it’s not really a secret, but I haven’t told you all yet, so here it goes…

My husband is famous.

Happy birthday Robert! I love you!

I’ve been thinking a lot…

A Week in Review (and the Week Ahead)

I took zero pictures this week.

I know. Fail on my part.

It was a great weekend, and a boring week. I had a friend’s wedding on Saturday, and their rehearsal on Friday. The bride looked stunning, the groom looked happy. It was a fun time had by all. Today we went to lunch with a very dear friend of mine, and we caught up on everything we had missed in each others lives since we last saw each other in July. Today was also spent taking naps and drinking Starbucks.

One of the best things about this weekend {other than seeing two friends get married}, was that I have been writing. As in, writing my book.

I think I’m too much of a perfectionist, and I keep wanting to start over. But now I’m forcing myself to just write, and it’s been working. I have almost ten thousand words compiled now, and five chapters finished.

Hopefully this burst of inspiration will continue throughout this week, and until I actually finish my book.

On the agenda for this week is a formal mixer for the Association of Bridal Consultants {I’m not a member, but I was invited anyway} and the husband’s birthday on Thursday. He’s asked me to make prime rib. Yum.

Next weekend is full of friends and costumes and yummy food and a football game. I can’t wait!

Hope you all had a beautiful weekend, and here’s to another fabulous week!

Wine with Whitney

When I saw that one of my favorite wine bloggers was having a little class at her wine shop in Los Angeles on Tuesday, I just had to go. Whitney is so knowledgeable about wine, yet presents it in such a user friendly way. I’ve been listening to her podcast since it came out, and it is by far my favorite wine podcast out there. If you haven’t heard the Crush yet, you should go download an episode right now!

I learned a few things on Tuesday, like that I don’t really want to become a sommelier because the test is too stressful {true story} and that you don’t actually need to smell the cork when they place it next to you in a restaurant.

Out of the five wines that we tasted, I recognized the name of only two of them: pinot gris {which is also the same as pinot grigio, definitely didn’t know that either…} and pinot noir {which was actually a white wine from France}. They were all delicious though, and my favorite was by far the one from the Canary Islands {don’t even remember the name of it…}.

I’m pretty sure that Whitney thinks I’m kind of strange now, because I asked to get a picture with her, but that’s alright. I needed it for my blog!

If you ever find yourself in LA, you should stop by Domaine LA and say hi. They have an awesome selection of wines from around the world, and they are super affordable. Even for me!

Mismatched

It might be a little early, but my mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas this weekend. I didn’t know at the time, but I’ve been doing some thinking…

I was about to email her yesterday, to let her know that I kind of want a set of special occasion china because we never got any for our wedding. Old fashioned is coming back these days, and I would really love some beautiful dishes to serve with on holidays.

But then I realized that maybe I don’t want a set of china. Maybe I just want a mismatched collection of pretty dishes, ones that I can interchange and collect over the years.

So I think that’s what I’m going to do. Every time I go into a thrift store or antique shop or to the flea market, I’m going to keep an eye out for pretty dishes to add to my collection. Because I would just love to have some pretty table settings, like these…

Have any of you done this before? If not, do you have a set of special occasion china that you use?
