I made spaghetti sauce last night and it turned out to be delicious! I tried to follow a recipe, but {like usual} my attempt to follow a recipe failed the moment I stepped foot in the grocery store and tried to find pureed tomatoes. So, of course, I improvised.
Here is my very own recipe for spaghetti sauce. I promise, it's delicious.
Ingredients:
3 cloves of garlic
1 whole small onion, chopped
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 {28 oz.} cans of crushed tomatoes
2 cans of tomato paste
Water
Basil and Oregano
Fresh parsley
1. Heat the olive oil in a dutch oven on medium. Add the garlic and onion and sautee until the onion is clear, about five minutes.
2. Add the tomato paste and sautee for another three to four minutes. Add crushed tomatoes and fill one can with water and add. Stir together to mix, and add a handful of fresh parsley and basil and oregano {I can't tell you exactly how much to add, just use however much you usually use}.
3. Reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer on low for an hour and a half.
This recipe made four servings of the sauce. I used one last night for dinner and put the rest in single servings in the freezer for a later time.
Enjoy!

I love making sauce! I usually make it in the crockpot because I love how it makes the house smell so good:)
mmmm, last summer i made a tomato/pasta sauce from scratch like that, all by myself, incuding blanching a ton of tomatoes.
a ton, because my family is 9 and we had a friend over.

Oh man that is one of my goals. Ok ok another one of my goals is to make a 101 in 1001 days list BUT this would be on that list if I could actually sit down and write it! I am saving this in my favorites so I know where to look when it's time to make my own! Thanks so much! I can't WAIT to try it!
This sounds super simple and healthy. Thanks for posting!
