Other than the afternoon naps and the freedom to choose my hours and being able to drink margaritas during lunch, I think the best part of working for myself is being able to take breaks during the day. Sometimes I just need to get out of the house, and so that's exactly what Robert and I did recently. I needed to get a few more Christmas gifts, but I didn't want to go to the mall.
We have a pretty amazing little downtown here in Ventura, with lots of family owned restaurants and shops that sell local and handmade items. It's really wonderful, and I'm so thankful that I live in such a special and beautiful place!
Do you have a downtown in your city? What's it like?

This looks really fun! I love going downtown too, rather than to malls. :)

I've always loved downtown Ventura as well! And I know my parents go there almost every weekend for lunch :) Anacapa Brewing Company looks so cute!

Cute! I have family in Thousand Oaks and been up to Zoey's a few times for shows. Unfortunately, we always arrive just in time to rush inside and get seats, so I've never gotten to explore but I've always wanted to.
Looks fabulous. I live in Hermosa Beach, CA and am walking distance to our downtown area and I love it!

That song "Downtown" came to mind while reading this! haha. Lovely post and photos. SLC has a great downtown area with shops and restaurants. I should really visit more often, but I'm a freak about one way roads, getting lost, and trying to parallel park. Now that I think of it, suburbia has successfully taken over my life and I don't like it. One day I'm going to sell my car, buy a scooter, and move downtown... preferably in San Francisco :)
Do they really? There are so many amazing restaurants up here! And you should definitely try Anacapa next time you're in town ;)
Zoey's is nice too! You should explore a little next time you're around though (and definitely let me know when you are)! xoxo
Nice! We're only a $12 cab right from downtown, so it's not too terrible ;) xoxo
Haha, I totally know what you mean about trying to avoid big downtown areas. Ventura is really small, so it's more "quaint" than anything (I guess)...no trouble finding parking or anything like that. Though I would have to agree with you about San Francisco. I love that city! xoxo
oh I love Ventura!
