Hi, everyone! It’s Robert and today I am hi-jacking my wife’s blog to bring you happy hour. As some of you already know, I am a bartender/mixologist in my spare time and I love crafting delicious cocktails. I’m also a huge fan of creating my own syrups to use as ingredients in my cocktails.
Recently, I did a post on my own blog about how to make your own lemon-basil infused syrup from scratch. Today, I’m going to show you how to make the perfect summer cocktail that uses it as a main ingredient. This cocktail is the Basil Lemon Drop and I have a strong hunch that you will find yourself addicted if you decide to make one.
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces of vodka
- 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 3/4 ounce lemon-basil syrup
- 1 dash orange bitters (optional)
To make this delicious cocktail, just combine all of the ingredients into your cocktail shaker and shake hard with plenty of ice. Make sure to chill your cocktail glass (the freezer works great for this). Before you pour your cocktail, run the other half of the lemon that you squeezed around the rim of the cocktail glass and dip it in sugar. Then all you have to do is strain your drink into the cocktail glass, garnish with a lemon twist and one small basil leaf, and you are ready to enjoy!
Thanks so much for hanging out with me today for happy hour! If you are interested in learning more about how to make the lemon-basil syrup that was used in this cocktail, please check out my tutorial.
