It’s been a few weeks since my last real Wedding Wednesday post, but I’m back today! And we’re talking about something really fun and important this week.

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, so obviously you want to look your best! I wasn’t as extreme as some women are before my wedding, but I definitely took up a more stringent routine in the months leading up to my big day. Here are a few things I recommend:

There are definitely a few things you’ll want to do in the months leading up to your wedding to prepare yourself.

If you have extra sensitive or temperamental skin, I would highly encourage you to visit a dermatologist at least six months before your wedding. They will be able to give you a specific routine to follow to make sure your skin is positively glowing on your wedding.

If you feel comfortable with your skin, there are a few really easy things you can do without consulting a professional.

1. The most basic piece of advice that I can give you is to wash your face. a lot. Don’t go to bed with makeup on, and make sure you wash off the dirt and oil you accumulate while you sleep in the morning. pictured: Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser

2. To keep your face fresh and smooth, exfoliate a few times a week with a gentle exfoliator. pictured: Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash

3. This is also a given, but make sure you wear your sunscreen. This is an important one, for all the time, not just your wedding day. pictured: Lancôme Bienfait Multi-Vital SPF 30 Cream

4. If you don’t have temperamental skin, or if your dermatologist gives you permission, you may want to try a face mask every month or so. But don’t do this {for the first time} in those last few days before your wedding. pictured: NARS Aqua Gel Luminous Mask

TIP: If you get a facial, make sure you do it at least two weeks before your wedding day, especially if you’ve never had one before.

A few other tips I have…

Consider buying your own lipstick and lip gloss so that you can carry it with you all day. Make sure you go somewhere (like Sephora) where you can try the colors on before committing to something. Tell the sales person the color of your dress and what type of makeup you’re getting so you can match it. Ideally this should happen before your trial, so you can make sure it all looks good together.

What to carry in your wedding day emergency kit (beauty only, I’ll be doing a full post on this someday):

• Lip gloss
• Cotton swabs
• Cotton balls
• Makeup remover
• Moisturizer
• Bobby pins
• Hair spray
• Translucent powder
• Brush and comb
• Eye drops
• Nail polish
• Dental floss
• Mouthwash
• Oil wipes
• Deodorant
• Safety pins
• Razor

Even if you’ve never worn them before, I highly recommend that you consider wearing fake eyelashes! They add so much to your pictures, and really aren’t that expensive or bothersome.
