{birthday hair}

My birthday happened to fall on a Wednesday this year, which was a good thing. Robert has Wednesdays off, so I immediately knew that I wanted to plan a fun day for the two of us. We love watching web clip shows on TV, like America's Funniest Home Videos (though we don't watch Tosh.0), and I was so excited when I saw that Ridiculousness was filming on my birthday! That is definitely one of our favorite shows to watch together (total guilty pleasure), so we spent the day in Los Angeles, waiting in line to see Rob Dyrdek and then walking around Sunset Boulevard.

Before that, however, I decided it was necessary to make a stop at my true guilty pleasure. I absolutely love being pampered, which is why I'll use any excuse to make an appointment at the Dry Bar. I'm sure there are plenty of salons out there that could blow out my hair for less than what the Dry Bar charges, but seriously, it's all about the experience. You really do get what you pay for! They always do a great job, of course, but it's the mimosas and hip stylists that really win me over.

My hair is pretty long, and it can take me quite a while to blow it out at home, which is why you'll usually find it in a nest on top of my head. I can never get it as smooth and bouncy and full as when they do it there, and my birthday was no different.
I have a crush on their branding too!
Why yes, I was double fisting with my mimosa and coffee with a straw...
Have you ever had your hair professionally blown out before, just for the hell of it? If not, you should. It's totally worth it.

Oh, and when we were walking down Sunset, I saw a Dry Bar right next to this place. Genius!

How fun! I've never had this done, but mostly because I never realized I *could* have it done!

I've always been curious about Dry Bar. I don't really do blowouts and my curling wand is my best friend but I love the idea of it being a luxurious gift to myself! I love being pampered.

It turned out so well - love the bit of curl! The whole dry bar thing hasn't really caught on yet here (at least that I know of), but when it does it will definitely be one of my favorite guilty pleasures :) Sounds like a wonderful mid-week birthday.

Thanks Evani! It's definitely a guilty pleasure, but if you love being pampered, then you'll love this. In my mind, it's definitely worth the $35 ;)

Ha, right?! I didn't even know this place existed until last summer, and then I was hooked!

Thanks Kristina! You should try it. It really is so fun and makes you feel beautiful ;) xoxo

Oh my gosh, I would LOVE that! Someday I'll be the old lady who has her hair done once a week ;)

They do have one there! I don't know where there are other Blushingtons, but I swear I'm going to go to both sometime too. It's too convenient not to!

I've only been once but I'm obsessed with Drybar. Totally worth the four hour drive for me.

Unknown said...

Four hours? That's dedication. I'd do it ;)

Ahh...your hair looks amazing! Happy Belated Birthday in case I didn't tell you earlier. Now you are making me want to do a blowout just because :)

Unknown said...

Thanks Jamie! And I think you probably should ;)

I want to go to a dry bar! It looks amazing and I've only ever heard great things.

I totally agree with the blow outs. There really is nothing more relaxing then just sitting there while a professional takes over. I have crazy curly hair, so it's always the best when someone else does it in half the time!

I love Dry Bar too. Their blow dryer chandlier is fab!
