You had to know it was coming eventually! I got married in summer, but I really think I would have loved a fall wedding. Not just because of the colors, which are only part of the season, but because of the comfort that come with fall. I love using elements of the season in your wedding, especially since I believe that a wedding is a reflection of where a couple are that that moment in their lives. To me, October evokes a deep, personal emotion, full of warmth and warm colors. Here are a few ways that you can use the season in your wedding without going overboard or too obvious (i.e. not just pumpkins!).

As much as I love pumpkin patches, I feel like there is just something about getting married in an apple orchard {photo 1}. Picking apples is on my fall bucket list, so anything apple {photo 2} pretty much epitomizes fall for me. Fall isn't too cold to have a wedding outdoors, so I really love the thought of having a ceremony outside and the reception in a barn {photo 3}.
Rustic weddings in barns are super trendy right now, but I think they take a whole new meaning when you do them in the evening in fall. It really just evokes that warm, comfortable feeling that I get when thinking of the season, and there's just so much you can do in a barn! I'm all about balancing that rough, rustic feeling with lots of lights and romance. Can't you see it now?
One of my very favorite things about fall is the food, of course! So why wouldn't you include fall items on your menu {photo 4}, such as butternut squash, pumpkin, and lots of comfort food.
Flowers {photo 5} are an obvious and beautiful way to incorporate the season into your wedding. Not just season blooms, but colors as well. Think warm colors, like reds and oranges and yellow. And lastly, my favorite part of any meal, is dessert {photo 6}. Once dinner is over, and it's time for something sweet, you know it's going to be cold enough for something warm. Try a hot chocolate or coffee bar, or warm apple crisp and ice cream.

What are your favorite fall wedding elements? What's your favorite season for weddings?
There are no real rules for Wedding Wednesday, I just ask that your post be wedding related {it doesn’t need to be the same topic that I’m posting about}. I also ask that you try to visit a few other blogs to say hi.

I would love an apple orchard wedding - sign me up!
These photos are just gorgeous! I can't wait for my chilly wedding. I'm linking up with some of my own ideas for a cold weather wedding =)
Jon and I knew we wanted to get married in late August or September - I was secretly rooting for late September so we could do all these things! Our wedding is in late August, in the end, but I might still incorporate some of these... after all, it'll be chilly in the evenings at that time of year along the North Sea in England :)
i'm obsessed with fall weddings. great inspiration here!
Haha glad I'm not the only one! Have a great week Diane!

I think you can definitely do a lot of these things! I'm sure it's going to be cool enough, and August is pre-fall, in my mind ;)

If we choose an early Spring wedding, Fall would definitely have been the next choice! Both seasons have nice cool weather with less humidity. Always a plus! :)
If we *didn't* choose, that is. :)
You're so right! Summer can be way too hot, which is why we had our wedding in the evening (it was perfect), and winter is too cold, obviously. The weather is such an important factor in deciding where you want your wedding and the different elements you include.

loving those gilded leaves! my bff is getting married in sonoma next fall and i'm so excited to see how she incorporates the season into the colors and decor!
I'm a big fan of the barn idea. There's actually a nearby barn venue that I've come across on some S.B. photog's site. I don't remember the name, but I'm sure you know which one I'm talking about.
If I ever get married again, I would love to have something rustic like that.
your train is so beautiful! I love the lace doily pompoms, too. looks like a day filled with such love!
I've already been seeing fall weddings and they are BEAUTIFUL! I might just have to post some pics of them!
Thanks for the link up party. I just married in August and can't wait to link of a few details!
