I'm a big advocate of writing down your goals, and being accountable for them. I think that's part of why I love having a blog so much. I'm forced to evaluate what I do, and why I'm doing it, because I have quite a few people watching. It's a scary thought, but it's also incredibly empowering. Which is why I'm sharing some of my tangible goals with you today.
I have a lot of things that I would like to accomplish in 2013, but I always find easier to make my goals concrete, rather than...arbitrary? I suppose that's the right word...for example, instead of saying I want to lose weight this year, I would say, I'm going to lose 20 pounds this year. See? That's a much more concrete, and doable goal, I think.
That being said, I've actually done one of those 101 Things in 1001 Days posts, but it was honestly a little difficult to keep up with. So, instead, here are 13 things I want to do in 2013.
Personal
1 // Finish my book
Robert took that picture at sunset on December 31, 2012. So beautiful!
Personal
1 // Finish my book
2 // Meet Taylor Swift
3 // Eat at home 5 days per week (0/52)
4 // Read 52 books (16/52)
5 // Exercise at least twice per week (0/52)
6 // Go on vacation
Professional
Professional
7 // Work 15 weddings (12/15)
8 // Hire an intern
9 // Work with a blogger I admire
10 // Work with a brand I love
11 // Complete two major projects (0/2)
12 // Write a wedding eBook
13 // Create an inspiring, engaging community on Something Charming
I know that, of all things, New Year's resolutions are controversial (really? I don't get it), but I still love them. Obviously I have a whole bunch of other things that I want to do this year, along with a few goals that are more like values that I want to concentrate on, but I think I'll keep those private.

What are your goals for 2013?

I love your goals! And I agree that writing them down, and making them tangible, makes them also more manageable. I'm excited for a new year too!! yay 2013!
Way wonderful goals you have ... Looks like you'll be doing a lot of reading! I look forward to seeing you accomplishment your goals!
Thank you so much! I should probably get started on reading now, huh? ;) xoxo
Thanks Mara! It really is so much easier to keep track of your goals when you have them in front of you. I know exactly what I'm working toward this year! Hope 2013 is everything you want it to be, and much more :) xoxo
love this idea! I am really hoping my life will calm down a little this year so I can follow through on everyday tasks as well as goals! May steal the 13 in 2013 idea :) Hope you had a great New Years! xoxoxo
Great goals! As a future English teacher, I especially love the books one. ;)

Fantastic personal goals! I also agree that goals need to be doable. As a teacher, the idea of setting more specific goals is something which I advocate. Lots of luck to you for 2013 and your goals.

I certainly agree that writing your goals down helps you achieve them! There are actually psychological studies that back that idea up, too, so good for you for being on top of that :) 2013 is going to be such a great year for you + your business! I'm so excited to see how it all plays out. xoxo, eliza
Are there? I mean, it works for me, so I don't see why not! I keep seeing all of these "anti-resolution" posts, and I just don't feel the same way :) Happy 2013 Eliza! xoxo
Thank you so much Missy! It may not work for everyone, but this is definitely how it works for me :) xoxo
Thank you so much Lindsey! I read a lot in 2012, so I think I can do that one ;) xoxo
Thanks Michelle! Hope you have a fabulous year as well! xoxo
Please do! I think 13 is definitely a manageable number :) xoxo
I also wrote down my goals on the blog yesterday. I always feel that writing them down and looking at them every day makes them more real and reminds me of my goals :)
Wow, that's quite the list! 52 books! I love resolutions, I don't understand what the big fuss is about them. If you don't like them, fine.. lol.
I love your goals! Eating at home is something we struggle with, but we've got a goal to only eat out twice a month. We can usually stick to that, but sometimes it's very tempting to go out more frequently.
Awesome! I hope that you reach all of them this year! xoxo
Haha, right? I love goals in general (obviously), and I love having a fresh start at the beginning of the year! It seems only natural for me :) xoxo
We definitely struggle with eating at home too, but that's something I'm really trying to work on. I'm sure it will be a lot easier when I'm home more often!
Good luck with your own goals this year my dear, and happy 2013 to you as well! xoxo
wow! reading 52 books is super ambitious. My goal is 2!...lol..
These are great goals! :) I bet you read some great books in that time too.
These are great, Joelle!
