{pretty pictures}

{via}

Friends, I need your help. I’m looking to {finally} buy myself a new camera, but I have no idea what to get! All I really need is something that will last a while and takes really great pictures. Nothing special. It’s only for personal use, and so that I can take pretty pictures to use on my blog. Something with an HD video camera would be nice too, since I’m sure Robert would like to use it for his cocktail videos.

Right now, I’m leaning towards a Canon Rebel T2i. A friend of mine loves hers, but I thought I’d ask all of you too. Thoughts?

I have the Canon Rebel T2i and I love it! It was my first "big" camera. I actually took a six week class at a local photography shop to learn how to use it. Now that I have the hang of it, I find it really easy to use and it takes amazing photos!

I have the Nikon D7000, which I use for photography and personal use.

My first DSLR that I first bought was the D3000 (which is now the D3200). This was a great beginner camera!

I'm basically set on getting that same camera so I'm excited to read these comments and see what people have to say about it. I'm glad you're doing something fun for yourself and your blog - I'm sure you're going to love having it! Xoxo, Eliza

I have the Olympus PEN-PL1 which is a compact SLR which is great if you are only going to be using it for personal things and don't really want to lug around a heavy camera. It takes GREAT pictures and has a bunch of great settings so it is so easy to use! They have a couple updated versions of it now (the PL-2 and PL-3) which I'm sure are great too. Nikon and Sony have also come out with their own versions of the compact SLRs. I can't speak to their picture quality but I love that I don't break my back lugging around a huge camera to the park or on vacation.

T2i and up are really good Canon cameras. It should last for a really long time. If you need any help with regards to using it and learning the basics of using a DSLR, feel free to ask! ~ Leo

Joelle,

I have been following you for a while and I just saw your post about cameras. I had this issue before I went on a huge trip last year but I found the answer when I went into Best Buy.

I got a compact DSLR camera! It is the perfect solution if you want the great quality pictures but something easy to bring around with you!

Here's a link to the Best Buy site with some more info on the camera! But I just love mine to death!

Canon all the way! (Over Nikon). I love my Canon T3 Rebel! It was a great "starter" DSLR camera and it takes amazing pictures. :)
