{where do we go from here}

This little blog here has gone through quite a few different phases since it began in April of 2010. I started Where We Love is Home for the same reason a lot of people start their blogs: I was planning a wedding and I had just moved away from home. I wanted a place to document my life, but I was really bad at it at first. I think that in those first six months I had maybe four posts {one of which was about Taylor Swift, of course}.

It wasn't until October of 2010 that I really started posting regularly. Since then, I've gone through a name change and more blog designs than I care to remember. I started a company, and changed my career path. Finding my voice and my niche has also been a struggle. At first, I was one of those bloggers who posted pictures from my weekend with a play by play, along with everything I ate. That's fine for some, but it wasn't long before I realized that blogging in that way just wasn't for me.

There are moments when I've had to do some serious soul searching to figure out exactly what I'm trying to get out of this blog. I contracted a blog consultant, and have taken a few Alt classes to help me figure it all out. And it's worked. I feel like I'm finally getting to the place where I want to be.

So here it goes.

I've played around with the idea of doing "What I Wore" posts, but I highly doubt you'd be interested in that. I typically stick to pretty classic and simple clothing, nothing too exciting. But every once in a while, I'll post my outfit on Instagram {@joelleduff}, if you're interested.

In that same vein, as much as I love fashion, it isn't a passion of mine. I'll still posts things I love every once in a while, but fashion might be taking a back seat to other, better content {better content that I can put out there, at least}, for a little while. We'll see how it goes.

I'd really, really, like to start putting more original content on here. Like, things I've designed {parties, tables, flowers, etc.}. But I have a big problem in that regard: I don't have a nice camera. My iPhone is the best I can do for now {unless I can convince my friends to let me use theirs}.

A few months ago, I introduced a new series on what it means to be a lady. It kind of fizzled out after a while, but I'd really like to bring it back. What do you think?

Monday's Mantra is staying. That's one of my favorite posts of the week, and always really inspires me. I'd like to create more ways for you to take advantage of these mantras: desktop and iPhone wallpapers, printables, etc. Would you use them?

And then there are the weddings. I do one Wedding Wednesday post every week, and haven't really deviated from that schedule all that much. I didn't start this blog, and a lot of you didn't start following me, as a wedding blog. But weddings are something that I'm really passionate about, and I'd love to start posting more about them. Is that alright with you?

I've been asked a lot recently about what my blog is all about, and this is what I've come up with:

Something Charming

That's really it. And that's what I want to stick with. I hope you stick with me too. But I also hope that you'll let me know what you love and don't love so much about this little blog here.

Sponsorship

All you have to do is leave a comment, letting me know what your favorite post topic is on the blog. Monday's Mantra? Happy Hour? Wedding Wednesday? Something else?

Like always, you can get extra entries by 1. following me on Twitter 2. tweeting about the giveaway 3. liking my page on Facebook 4. sharing this giveaway on your own blog. Be sure to leave a separate comment for each. I’ll choose the winners on Friday, May 25th.

And if you're interested in sponsoring Something Charming, I have 1 large space and 4 small spaces left. You can check out my sponsorship page to purchase your ad!

I'm at an impasse right now: I know where I want to be, it's just getting there that's the problem. I know, story of my life, right? But I'll get there someday. I just need your help, that's all.

Love you all.

The evolution of your blog has brought you to a great place! To be honest, I always think of Something Charming as a wedding and feminine class lifestyle blog. I love it!

I love Monday's Mantra. I love Happy Hour, too, because I meet other bloggers, but Monday's Mantra is more personal to you. Closer to the original content factor you're seeking.

I love this post, Joelle! I love how you just laid out what is and what isn't going to be on your blog. I need to do that soon! I think Happy Hour is my favorite series, but it's hard to pick!

Since I happen to be getting married, I love your wedding posts! They are well written, with beautiful pictures, and tons of information. I love the Monday Mantras and really any post you write, I read. I don't feel like you have to put your blog in a box and call it something. It is what it is and it's really wonderful. :)

I think this is so great that you're taking the time to really think about what you love and what you want your blog to be about. I envy you because that is something I've struggled with, and still have no clue what I want to write about. Like you though, I'm not happy just updating about my life and what I ate. It's ok, but I want my blog to be so much more than that.

I love your Monday Mantra posts, and would totally use wallpapers or printables! It's a refreshing way to start the week!

Keep the Wedding Wednesday's please! You give great advice that a lot of brides would never think about. Lifestyle blogs are my favorites because they have great variety and really let us get to know the blogger. Keep up the good work! :)

I also meant to mention in that comment that I think you have a beautiful voice behind your blog - and I know it can definitely be a challenge to tailor down what you're posting about, but you do a beautiful job regardless of your topic! I enjoyed reading your post about being ladylike. That seems to be something that is very true to who you are - and therefore reading that post (and posts like it!) was very believable..if that makes any sense ;) xo!

I love exactly where your blog is going. Life is a roller coaster, and with that comes changes. Changes in your own blog is definitely normal. Keep up with your Monday Mantras and Friday's Happy Hour! Those are my favorites :)

what a wonderful post! Getting into the blog world can be overwhelming a bit, because you become influenced by so many other blogs out there. Thank you for this inspiring post and a little reminder to be true to what you want to give through your blog!

Looking forward to reading more of your blog!
