{wedding wednesday: the proposal}

Yay for my favorite day of the week on this little blog! I don’t know about you, but Wednesdays are always fun for me, since I get to write about my very favorite topic.

Now, if you don’t get my blog and business newsletter, you may not know that we are changing Wedding Wednesdays up a bit from now on. Before today, I always wrote about whatever interested me that week. There was no rhyme nor reason to the topics I chose, I just chose them. But now, there is a reason.

Every week, we will be talking about one specific part in the planning process. The topics will be in the order of planning as well, so if you just got engaged, this is perfect for you! You can follow along in your own planning.

I don’t know how long it will take, and there may be weeks where I talk about something different, but this is how it’ll go for most of the time. And if you’d like to keep up with what the topic of the week will be, you should probably follow me on Twitter, “like” our page on Facebook, or subscribe to my newsletter. I’ll be announcing the topic on all three.

So, let’s start at the beginning, shall we? Ladies, this one is for your guy…

Proposal 1

First things first, isn’t that picture up there absolutely beautiful? I went through a lot of proposal pictures, trying to find the perfect one. This one was the perfect one. But before we talk about pictures, which we will, there are a few things that we need to discuss first.

The ring

Rings

The ring is important, of course, but so is the proposal itself. So, how can you make your proposal as special as possible?

Be cliche

Make it special

Times are changing, we all know this. Obviously, men still propose to women much, much more than the other way around. If you want to propose to your man, then by all means! And if you don’t want him to spend so much on a ring, then that’s alright too! All that matters is that you commit yourselves to one another and promise each other that someday you’ll marry.

Whatever you decide, here are a few great links to help you with the proposal:

If you’d like more information about engagement rings, the Knot’s engagement ring guide is pretty comprehensive.

This infographic gives some really great information about proposals and getting engaged.

Umm can I just say that I absolutely love this idea - it's so great for me too, because I really know nothing about rings, engagements, announcements, etc.

I can't wait for next week!

I love the idea of featuring a different step each week. These photos are adorable too. I love the one of the bride looking at the photo of her engagement on her wedding day.

Stay in the Lines

Customize your ring with a jewelers gold. It depends on your preferred design.
